…is the title of my art piece that will be part of the 2017 Art Hits the Wall “Under the Influence” show . The show will hang at the Hooked Rug Museum of North America in Hubbards, Nova Scotia from mid-May to mid-October 2017 with additional venues to be announced.

Artist Statement: Early March, the sky is clear and I stand outside, high on a snow bank. I close my eyes with the late winter sun shining strong on my face and feel the influence of the heat take me, just for a moment, to a hot July day and the swirling colors of summer. Fractured light and geometric shapes in the piece are inspired by the art work of Lyonel Feininger.

Techniques: free cut, raw edge piecing with fusible web; oil paint sticks; machine stitching
